| PROFILE Anne
Ku is an independent features writer and editor, specialising in the international
coverage of current energy topics, often with a technical bent. Her sources are
among the most respected of industry professionals. After writing her doctoral
thesis about the electricity industry undergoing deregulation at London
Business School, she went to work for Enron to test her research hypotheses
on modelling uncertainty and flexibility. Thereafter, she consulted for Platts
on European power and weather data and then joined the magazine group as the only
editor outside of the US. In Houston, she conducted two major studies: 1-
predicting
the timing of retail access to power, and 2- power
pools around the world and gaming strategies. In Medellin, Colombia, she gave
a guest lecture on the deregulation of the electricity industry in the US. In
London, she developed corporate intranets to support UK and European gas trading,
including historical and forecast weather information/data. During her two-year
stint as editor of Platts' bi-monthly Global
Energy Business (which later merged with Energy IT to become Platts Energy
Business and Technology), she wrote cover stories and other feature articles on
timely and timeless subjects such as price
and demand forecasting,
climate
change and emissions trading, weather derivatives, online trading, straight-through
processing, risk management and trading systems, etc. During this time, she also
invited and edited contributed articles from experts on real options, system dynamics,
market design, value at risk, project finance, and other technical subjects. | LINKSOriginal
