3 Chord Thursday Pop Groups

On Thursday 7th July 2022, we share up to 10 songs from the 30 pop groups you can identify in this picture (see the Facebook comments for answers). Here are some questions to ponder and to answer when we meet.

  1. How to find the starting note of a song
  2. How to start a song for everyone else to follow TOGETHER
  3. How to end a song
  4. How to find your optimal voice range
  5. How to transpose a song so that you can sing it
  6. How to simplify a song, especially for chords that are difficult to finger? Or too many chords to switch?

Join us in Zoom to learn about rhythm from a seasoned drummer and others. Learn the Eagles’ famous hit “Take It Easy.”

The warm-up lesson at 3 pm EDT is about counting and rhythm.

The Line-up

  1. Take It Easy [5] (The Eagles) – Debbie (CA) (first page of score) (2-page PDF)
  2. Daydream Believer [6] (The Monkees) – Bruce (MI) (3-page PDF)
  3. The Great Pretender [8] (The Platters) – Steve (MA) (2-page in G#) (2-page in G)
  4. Hold Me Now [8] (Thompson Twins) – Anne (MA), Adrienne (TX) (2-page PDF 8 chords) (2-page PDF 8 chords – alternative)

Note: The line-up is ordered by number of chords in the song (usually). We typically use the song sheet linked furthest to the right of the song entry. The number in brackets is the number of chords in the song. The two capital letters in parentheses after the name of the performer is the state or province or other location abbreviation. The bolded song title links to a website or webpage that allows the song sheet to be transposed or edited.
