3 Chord Thursday Teachers

Thursday 5th October 2023 is World Teachers Day. We open the Autumn 2023 season by dedicating this 3 Chord Thursday to all those who teach or have taught for a living. We invite you to teach a song in this one-hour thematic song session in Zoom. For this occasion, we have invited Erin Ash Sullivan, an educator and singer song writer in Massachusetts, to share her new work and stories of her touring since her album release. She will teach us a new song in her next album. You can meet her in Zoom and a copy of her CD autographed for you!

Did you know there’s a monthly meetup in Zoom for those who teach ukulele? It started in August 2020. Ukulele Instructors International Monthly Meetup (Meeting) is open to all who teach the ukulele or use it to teach music. Each 90-minute meeting is livestreamed (recorded) for review. Join the private group on Facebook to find out more.

There are many three chord songs but 3 Chord Thursday is not limited to 3 chords!! We always start with a warm up at 3 pm EDT followed by two poses for a group photo with our sunglasses and ukuleles. Then we announce our line-up. If there’s no request beforehand, we take impromptu requests and line them up. We aim to end an hour later at 4 pm EDT.

Erin Ash Sullivan at Falcon Ridge

GUEST ARTIST

Erin Ash Sullivan’s first foray into music was as one-half of the folk duo Edith O. with Amy Speace. After a hiatus to focus on her family and career as an educator, Erin returned to writing and performing – while still working as a school administrator.

In May 2021, she released her debut solo album, We Can Hear Each Other, which reached #10 on the FAI DJ Chart. In 2022, she was selected as one of the “Most Wanted” performers from the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival’s Emerging Artist Showcase and performed on the Falcon Ridge mainstage this past summer.

Erin’s award-winning songs highlight family stories, perspectives on being a mother and a daughter, and the rhythms of life in New England.

WFUV’s John Platt describes Erin as having “a special talent that reminds me of early Dar Williams,” and Victor Infante of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette describes her music as full of “nuance and emotional resonance.”
