On Thursday 18th July 2024, we celebrate the art of parody by sharing songs that parodize (is there such a word) famous tunes. Get into the line-up before the one-hour song session in Zoom ends.
A parody is a creative work designed to imitate the original. You might have seen the movies “Austin Powers” – parody on James Bond 007. “Spinal Tap” – parody on a real band. “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” – parody on King Arthur and the Round Table.
We take it to mean replacing the lyrics of a well-known tune and make it our own, usually funny. Check out this YouTube Playlist of song parodies.
