The first thing I heard on Facebook this morning was a YouTube cover of The Cure’s 1992 hit “Friday I’m in Love.” A couple played and sang the four chord song in the key of G. This reminded me that I had tabbed out the catchy fingerpicking introduction (and interlude) in the keys of F and G and performed/recorded it on 3 Chord Thursday with my high school classmate and girl band mate as well as by myself for the 100 Days Ukulele Project. Let me share that instrumental segment here.

There are many different ways to play the catchy instrumental segment which is used in the introduction and as interludes. It’s fun to play on the high G ukulele — FAST!!
Compare playing it in the key of F major. Which is easier?

We performed this song in the key of F in 3 Chord Thursday more than once. Read about my analysis of this song HERE.
For the first 100 Days Ukulele Project, I played it again.
And again when Adrienne visited me in Boston. This is how much I love Friday I’m in Love.
Practice suggestions
Familiarize yourself with the song. Practice the different options as marked in the first image. Play along with video covers. Which key do you prefer? F or G major?
