While trying to find melodies on the high G string of the ukulele, I thought of this title “Err on the G string.” Why not begin as if it is JS Bach’s famous “Air on the G String” and then free myself to finger gymnastics? My new instrumental solo piece also ends on the famous descending bassline, without the octaves in a different key. Can you hear it?

The short range of the high G ukulele means that it’s impossible to play the entire “Air on the G String.” One solution is to transpose it to a different key. In this case, we can almost play the entire entrance of the famous aria.

Looks can be deceiving. Take a closer look in the opening of section A to see what’s different in the repetitive Am – Em7 sequence. The differences bring out the inner melodic line.

Pick! Pluck! Play!
“Err on the G String” may be inserted into the second or third level of the book “Pick! Pluck! Play!”
The last page “Ukulele Chords” of the new book contains a table of ukulele chord diagrams ordered alphabetically for the chords used in the book.
I’m thrilled about releasing these two books as a precursors (prerequisite) to the 12 Chinese Zodiac Suite, which contains three skill levels.
I am recording all my new compositions in the 100 Days of Ukulele 2025 project. To me, this challenge means uploading a new video recording of a new piece each consecutive day from 1st March to 8th June 2025.
