On Thursday 19th December 2024, the final song session in 2024, we celebrate the festive season with holiday songs typical of your cultural tradition. It’s not the first time we share Christmas songs in this joyous season to end the year. Check out 3 Chord Thursday’s sessions in previous years. 3 Chord Thursday Sad but beautiful songs

On Thursday 7th November 2024, we will share poignant songs that seem sad but are really beautiful. Can your ukulele do that? What are the characteristics of such songs? Minor keys? Slow tempo? Let’s explore. The warm-up lesson will introduce suitable accompaniment for such songs as well as minor keys and chords to set the mood. Doors open half-hour prior for sound and visual checks and chit chat.

Borrow ukulele from a library

Did you know that you can borrow an ukulele from a library? Or rather, do you know if your local library offers a “library of things” which may include a ukulele? All 51 branches of the Hawaii state libraries have ukuleles for loan. The Boston Public Library has several branches with ukuleles. The Milton Public Library in Massachusetts has ukuleles, too. Which other libraries also lend ukuleles?

Fun with Uke 2024

The festive edition of “Fun with Uke” was released at the 2024 Concert Series in Watertown, Massachusetts. The ukulele concert scheduled for Wednesday 24th July 2024 at 6:30 PM EDT (until 8:00 PM) welcomed each family to obtain gratis one copy of the 20-page spiral-bound book (first come first serve basis), until all 30 copies gone. Crayons (for coloring) and more than a dozen loaner ukuleles were available for use during the free outdoor concert.

3 Chord Thursday Dance!

Thursday 19th September 2024 is National Dance Day. Of course, we celebrate with songs that make you feel like dancing or are intended to accompany dances. Dance music can be instrumental, such as those in the Baroque period. Put on your dancing shoes and let’s begin!

As usual, we begin promptly at 3 PM EDT with a warm-up exercise (which will not be livestreamed but will be recorded for review for paid subscribers). This exercise focusses on rhythm.
